About

Just a girl in a perpetual quarter-life crisis…..
Except she is too old for a quarter-life crisis (or will be in a few short months)….
And too young for a mid-life crisis….(and still will be in a few short months, thank you very much).
And too self-aware for an identity crisis….
And not religious enough for a crisis of faith….

It’s more like…just a girl trying to make it through life with an extremely rare phobia. Erythro-LigyroGloboPhobia.
Known as the fear of popping pink bubbles. (Okay, so technically translated it’s fear of the loud noise associated with the popping of balloons, specifically red ones but it’s the closest phobia I could make up. Oh, and in case you aren’t fluent in Latin & Greek roots of words: Erythrophobia is actually a fear of red lights. Get it, light red….pink…… annnyway…..)

Now don’t worry, it’s not a fatal phobia nor is it contagious. It’s actually quite similar to my Arachnaphobia. Every time I see a spider, my palms sweat, heart races, breathing gets rapid, total terror takes over…..and I freeze up.

Every time someone, or something threatens to pop my Happy Pink Bubble that I live in, my palms sweat, heart races, breathing gets rapid, total terror takes over…..and I freeze up.

So don’t try to pop the bubble, damnit!

More about me other than my intense phobia….
Name: Jennifer T. (no really, I’ve been Jennifer T. my whole life because I’m from a small town and there was always a Jennifer A. in the class)
DOB: August 27.
Zodiac: Leo-Virgo. I realize I’m not on the cusp but my crazy aunt once told me my moon is in Leo which is why I have so many Leo tendencies.
Where I’m at: Sarasota, Florida….
Where I came from: ….by way of Albany, New York.

Fave TV Shows: Greys, Fringe, Scrubs, Idol, DWTS, SYTYCD, ANTM,  OTH, Runway, TopChef, Glee….pretty much anything you can shorten to one word or initials, I’ll be down to watch.

Pets: a neurotic, OCD, very pretty cat named Peanut Butter who hates to be touched. Other names for her include, but are not limited to: Bunny, Ferret, Lil Cat, Love Muffin, Cuddle Bug, Fuzzybutt, Pretty Girl, Monkey, Crazy Monkey, Ravioli, Pork Chop, Peanut, Pumpkin, Pumpkin Face, Pumpkindoodle and all other variations of the word pumpkin. Her “real name” on the vet’s first records is Gigi, which stands for Grey Goose (to go along with old roomie’s cat Bailey). We have never used either of those names. And I wonder why she is about to be put on prozac.

Oh, and I have an ant farm* in the kitchen. But just like P.B., I neither asked for, nor wanted it, but in time, have grown to love it and will now feel a bit lost without it. (*please note that the ant farm is an ant infestation, not a fun child-like toy.)

What I do: Well. Last year I thought it would be a swell idea to quit my full-time retail/visual job to start writing again. In my defense, no one told me about the whole economic crisis….

In some ways that is true but actually, I lost my mother last year to pancreatic cancer and had already given up my old career to spend her last days with her. I felt I needed to try and turn a horrible tragedy into something positive and took the opportunity to go back to writing, which my mother always loved.

In October I decided to take all my useless sports knowledge that I’ve emassed over the years and launched my first blog, Stiletto Sports: A Girl’s Guide to Sports. I was hoping to teach each other stiletto-chicks like myself, all about the fan-tastic sporting world from a pink, sparkly, high heeled POV. The site evolved, seemingly overnight, into an online magazine with me as the editor-in-chief! Check out the magazine at StilettoSports.Com

But I realized I needed an outlet for non-sports stuff, so the Pink Bubble World was formed!
